**Malcolm Hamilton Nightingale Gruner** (22 August 1905 – 28 August 1989) was an English-born Canadian civil engineer who spent most of his adult life in Montreal, Quebec.

Malcolm was born on **22 August 1905 in Yorkshire, England** and baptised on **15 November 1905** at **St Mark, Woodhouse, Yorkshire**.

He was the son of physician and medical researcher [[generation_2:2_1:people:oskar_gruner|Oskar Cameron Gruner]] and [[generation_2:2_1:people:alice_nightingale|Alice Patricia Charlton Nightingale]].

In the **1921 census**, Malcolm was living with his family in Leeds. He was unmarried and recorded as a **scholar**.

Family accounts state that Malcolm attended **Leeds Grammar School** and later trained as an engineer.
